Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a fantastic fun filled family musical that will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. This is definitely a must, either pre or post Christmas. A great antidote to the post Christmas slump, and it will definitely chase those winter blues away!
The cast and crew add electricity to Roald Dahl’s vision. Each character is bolder than life from the glorious Augustus Gloop to the glamorous Violet Beauregarde.
Willy Wonka’s character is dark and eccentric; his playfulness with the audience is contagious as he uses his skilful wizardry and impactful one-liners to carry you into his imagination, transporting you to a world larger than fiction, where you’re totally sold a fantastic dream of all things possible, from the funny Oompa-Loompas, to the huge TV screen powered by pedal power.
In the opening scene we first meet Charlie Bucket, against the imaginative backdrop of Wonka’s Factory. The set is then transformed into the interior of The Buckets family home. The story then takes you on a mind-blowing journey, from meeting the lucky winners of the infamous Golden Ticket through to the scrumptiousness of Willy Wonka’s surprise’s, which explode at every turn, to the final scene that will leave you with a warm glow and wanting more.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a truly awe-inspiring experience; with its striking visual effects, eloquently mixed with load explosions of sound, and astounding lighting effects, which is what makes this show the magical masterpiece that it is.
