A-Z of Easter holiday fun
Angry birds make egg-cellent Easter Eggs! You can decorate eggs in all kinds of ways but we think your boys will particularly like this Angry Birds idea! Red Ted Art also explains how to dye eggs, make them into owls and decorate them using old wax crayons.
Beat the creepers!
Immerse yourself in the Minecraft Zone at Insomnia51 this Easter. The Minecraft Zone will offer free-to-enter tournaments, panel talks
and presentations, as well as the chance to purchase official Minecraft merchandise. Insomnia51 takes place at the Ricoh Arena from Friday, April 18 to Monday, April 21 2014.

Egg-splore this Easter
This year the Cadbury Eggsplorers Easter Egg Trail (18-21 April) will be inviting families to unleash their inner explorer with adventurous trails taking place in some of the most amazing National Trust locations in Britain. Hide those eggs!
You’re never too old for an Easter Egg Hunt! If the weather is a bit iffy, make some laminated cards and hide them, rather than the real chocolate eggs. If your garden's not big enough head to your local park or woods and hide the eggs there. Older children could follow clues to find their way to the treasure.
Immerse yourself in an adventure
Head off into the woods, out into the fields or wherever you can get to and try orienteering. This activity can help your boys work on their map reading skills and gives a great feeling of independence. Find out more about orienteering. Jettison the junk

Kite flying fun
If the weather turns windy over Easter take the opportunity to go fly a kite. If it’s quite still, just head upwards onto a hill and you’re sure to find a breeze. Beaches are great for flying kites too. Make your own kite from a plastic bag.
Lose your marbles!
Marble runs are great fun! They help your boys learn to construct structures, work out routes and distances – and have fun racing! There are some great ways to help kids improve their memory – try Kim's Game where you place objects on a tray, let them memorise what is on it, and then take the tray away. Bring it back, having taken away an object and see if they can spot what is missing! Nature detectives wanted. The Woodland Trust site has an amazing number of resources to help you and your boys enjoy the great outdoors and nature, from activity sheets and games to a woodland log book.
On the move gaming. Travel games are a good idea in the car - and more sociable than staring at iPods and screens. University Games has a number to choose from including the Pointless game, based on the TV show, Totally Gross! and Spot the Difference.

Plant some seeds! Easter is a great time to start sowing seeds - whether it's some cress growing on the windowsill or something a bit more ambitious. Carrots, radish and lettuce leaves grow quickly and Suttons has some fun kids' growing packs. Get more ideas from the excellent Kids Adventures site.
Quietly does it! Looking for a quiet activity? We're big fans of Airfix and Revell kits, especially if your boy isn't mad on Lego - both now do click-together kits so you don't have to worry about glue. Or hand over some boxes, loo roll middles etc, paint, foil and glue and get them to make a
musical/percussion instrument! It may not be quiet
Read a book. Take time out if the weather’s bad to start on a book. Forget school reading books and find something fun. Join the library if you’re not already members. We think most boys will like The Tale of Sidney Elderberry, an ordinary boy with extraordinary bowels!

Settle down for movie night
Cook up a batch of popcorn, bag your place on the sofa, and enjoy a family movie night. There’s lots of DVDs out in time for Easter – how about Disney’s Frozen (read our review here), or TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, SEASON 2 VOLUME 1 crammed full of crime fighting adventure.

Visit a farm. It’s lambing time, there are Easter chicks galore and probably some chocolate Easter egg hunts too. Easter is a lovely time to visit your local open farm, especially if the weather stays warm!
